In my previous journal entry, I said that sound is always missing in pictures. Well, today I saw this competition with a challenge: make a picture of a sound. A sound of nature that is. The competition closes 31 July, so I've got 11 days to turn my idea into reality  :-) Click the stamp for the details:

I'm seeing the drumsticks' movement and the headphones on the man's ears, and all of a sudden I realise something that's probably true for all concert pics ever made, it's just that I never noticed it: they're so silent! There's no music, no sound, not even background noise. Kinda weird really, the music's there, right before my eyes, but I can't hear it. Thinking some more about that concept, it means that however well the atmosphere is depicted, it can only be half of it. The actual atmosphere at a concert is made up of image, sound, human interaction, and smoke.  Image can be captured on film, smoke comes with the territory, and even the i

...saying I could have a free subscription for one whole week, with no strings attached. Yeah right! I /know/ there's a catch - it's called addiction! ;-) Nevertheless, I clicked 'continue' (not even sure if there was a way to opt out actually), and here I am. I can display my friends' avatars and have a little influence on what's displayed on the page. Haven't noticed any larger thumbnails though, but maybe that's just me. Best difference between the * and the ~ subscription, is the RSS feed - I now have an RSS feed! :excited: Means you can add my feed to your feedreader and you'll be notified on the rare occasions that I actually write so
